Welcome to my photo blog!
After a few years shooting digital, I’ve found recently myself wanting to shoot more and more with my film cameras, mainly with my Leica M4-P.
It’s not that I don’t like using my digital camera - far from it! Rather, there’s just a certain joy about shooting with a rangefinder, using film and not knowing how your shot has turned out (if it has even turned out at all) and the grainy & imperfect nature of film itself - not to mention the difference in how my back feels after a day of carrying around the almost-pocketable Leica vs a day carrying around my heavy Canon dSLR!
So, I’ve decided to set up a blog to give me somewhere to put my photos and motivate me to get out there and shoot more film (and actually get around to developing and scanning it!) At the moment, I’d say I have around 30-40 rolls of undeveloped film from the last year or so and having this blog will give me somewhere to put the decent shots from those rolls and motivate me to shoot more.
My wife and I are heading to Cambodia and Thailand in three months time and I would love to take just my Leica with 35mm and 90mm lenses and my Voigtlander with a 15mm (for some stupidly-wide shots) and nothing else. Before I do this, I need to shoot a lot more using just this gear only to make sure I’ll be able to get the shots that I want with it (and not rely on my digital all the time!)
For camera nerds / anyone who is interested, here’s a pic of the gear I’ll be using to take photos for this blog:
Left to right - Canon 85mm f/1.2L II & 24mm f/1.4L II, Canon 5D MkII with 50mm f/1.4, Leica M4-P (which is waiting for a new covering) with Zeiss Biogon 35mm f/2.0, Voigtlander Bessa-L with CV Heliar 15mm f/4.5.
